Scripture Study

Jerry and I were totally cracking up when we came across this picture on page 128 in the kids' Doctrine and Covenants Stories Book! Does anyone else think it's weird that one of the guys is wearing sunglasses?

127.2

Small progress is better than none, right? I have been trying to wean Miles the last couple of weeks and am realizing that now I need to eat less. Our 7th anniversary is coming up on the 30th, and I would like to be back to 125 lbs., so I'm being extra good this week. For those of you NOT watching your weight, you've GOT to check out this website: www.pioneerwomancooks.com. These apple dumplings are to DIE FOR, and they are SO EASY!!! I also made this, and it was a huge hit!

What's for dinner?

See this little guy? He's not very big, but he is NASTY!!!!
AND MILES ATE HIM!!!! I'm totally dying right now, it's so gross! Of all the bugs in Texas, this June bug is only second to the water roach in freaking me out. When I saw that Miles had put a dead one in his mouth, I called Jerry in a panic. He suggested I put a rubber glove on and fish it out. I couldn't do it, so I tried to get Darren and Claire to do it. They were too grossed out, also. By the time I worked up the courage, all that was left was half a wing and half a shell. And Miles cried and cried when I scraped them out. Darren and Claire went off in search for more bugs.

Welcome Home, Elder Atwood!

We were able to pick up my brother, Ellis, at the airport today. He just finished serving his mission in the West Indies. We were so happy to see him! He will only be home for about a month, then go up to Provo, Utah, to attend BYU. So girls, watch out! He's a great guy!

anxiously awaiting his arrival . . .
here he is!

My mom, Ellis, and Dad
Ellis with my youngest brother, Paul

Look what Darren did (while I was painting the tile) . . .

So, I accidentally left my camera out after taking the "before" picture of my kitchen. When I went to put the pictures on my computer, it uploaded SIXTY-TWO pictures!!! These were the best of the batch - I was totally cracking up!

Trip to Minnesota

My sister Christy had her second baby three weeks early, so Miles and I made a quick trip up to Minnesota to help her out until my mom could get there. The flight up there was LONG. We sat on the plane for an hour until they told us to get off because it would be another hour before we could take off because of weather. My stroller was already checked, so I let Miles crawl all over the airport floor hoping to get some of his energy out. We got a lot of grossed out looks. For the two hour flight, we were squeezed between a guy with a laptop, and a woman with sparkles on the chest of her shirt - need I say more?
Coming home was MUCH better. We actually had a whole row to ourselves, and empty rows behind and across from us - a nice buffer! It was late and Miles slept most of the way.

Here is my sister with her sweet little baby Joseph.

Jon and Joey.
Miles had a great time playing with Tommy and climbing up and down the stairs. The kid needs to grow some whiskers, though! He sees an opening and automatically thinks he can crawl through it, often getting stuck and crying. In this case, it was a good thing he got stuck!

Look what I did today!

Before . . . the tile back splash in our kitchen was a little boring, so I decided to try painting some of the tiles with an antiquing paint.

I'm not sure if the checkerboard pattern is a little psycho, but it's definitely an improvement. Not bad for a couple hours of work and less than $5! I will put a clear sealant on it and hope it doesn't wear off.

Searching for the perfect swimsuit

Today I wore a maternity suit to the pool and hoped no one noticed. Then, I got busy and ordered two new suits, one from Lands End, and one from Layers Clothing. I'm pretty sure the one from Lands End will fit, because I was able to create a virtual model of myself and try on dozens of suits. You can turn yourself around and see what they look like from behind, too. So cool and easy! Check it out at www.landsend.com!
